Vicarious develops industry-leading modular, adaptable robotic systems for assembly, kitting, palletizing, and more. In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical design of custom products from concept to production release. These designs will support robotic applications which include the integration of external systems, end-effector design, overall system-level design, and supporting subsystems.  You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, controls, system integration, manufacturing and SW teams to create and test proof-of-concept prototypes, development units, and complete production-ready assemblies on schedule and within budget.  

What you’ll do

  • Mechanical design of parts of robotic systems with mentorship provided by team  engineers
  • Learn to generate complete design drawing packages and documentation
  • Learn and then lead Engineering Change Order processes
  • Support fabrication and assembly of new designs as required
  • Participate in engineering build and validation cycles
  • Identify ways that hardware can improve the robustness and generality of robotic solutions
  • Collaborate with Vision, Motion Planning, Grasping, Insertion, Performance Engineering, System Integration, Manufacturing, and many other team members as you see projects through from idea to reality

Who you are

  • Earned or in progress: B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with detailed mechanical CAD drafting and design 
  • Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies and sensors
  • Understanding of some fabrication and assembly processes (sheet metal, turning, milling, stamping, etc)
  • Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to think outside the box and bring innovative ideas for new products
  • Highly motivated and self-reliant, fast learner
  • Work well in a dynamic environment as a team player
  • Great communicator, both written and verbal

Nice to haves

  • Autodesk Inventor experience
  • Experience with product development and PLM systems
  • Robotics experience/exposure
