As a member of the Performance Engineering team you will have a major impact on all of Vicarious’ state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence robotic systems. You’ll be working as part of a close-knit, highly skilled team in the exploration, design, implementation and verification of new ideas that will drive the future performance of Vicarious’ technology and business.

About you:
Extremely versatile, talented Robot Vision engineer who is eager to get into the nuts and bolts of software, hardware and process; improve their reliability, quality and performance; and come up with novel verification methods to measure the improvements. Willing to drive performance features and improvements across the organization.

Key Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD in a computer/robot vision-related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Ability to bring your experience and intuition to bear on how best to measure and improve robot vision performance when applied to manipulation tasks.
  • Able to holistically look at the full scope of the system including object class and instance detection, pose estimation, visual tracking, fine-grained image categorization, 3D scene understanding and recognition from RGB-D imagery, 3D reconstruction, structure-from-motion, and multi-view stereo.
  • Strong Python and/or  C++ skills
  • Great analytical skills
  • Passion for statistics
  • Understand what testing, verification and validation in software and hardware entails
  • Intellectual fearlessness to tread into new subject areas with no a priori knowledge when necessary
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; the ability to work with other teams to solve performance problems
  • Demonstrated ability to sleuth, troubleshoot and persevere until the root cause of issues is found with subsequent closed loop corrective action

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System)
  • Strong publication record and/or industry experience in the above mentioned areas.
  • Experience developing with OpenCV, TensorFlow, and PCL.
